Close Claim

Introduction

This feature allows you to close a claim when claim is able to be closed.

To access this feature, please open a claim details and click on Close claim button (this button is only available when claim is Open and you have permission to Close claims) on Claim summary info box. Prerequisites

To close a claim, you need permission “Close claims”. See Claim Permissions

Close a claim

On this popup, you need to specify:

  • Resolution: there are a predefined list of closure reasons that you can select. See Closure Reasons

  • Date Claims Paid (Final): date the final claim payment (indemnity) is made.

  • Date Fees Paid (Final): date the final claim payment (fees) is made.

  • Action Date: date you closed the claim case. It’s default today but the claim was closed earlier, you can select the actual closed date.

  • Comments: additional information that you want to add.

After you’re done with required information, you need to click Close claim button to accept closing the claim. A claim can be closed when it has:

  • No reserves, no payments, no recoveries have been made.

  • OR outstanding reserve is zero.

If a claim is closed successfully, system will show a toast message.

And the status of the claim will be updated on the claim details and in Claim list. When you clicks on the status, you will see the closure resolution and comments.

If a claim can’t be closed because claim has outstanding reserve, you will see this toast message.

Mark off claim

If a claim has outstanding reserve but no payments, no recoveries and no recovery received, when you close a claim, you will see this confirmation.

If you clicks Close claim, system will generate compensating transactions to zero out the outstanding reserve.
